Description
The ancient vineyard of Châteauneuf-du-Pape became world famous when the Popes settled in Avignon in 1350. It later became the first French appellation dorigine contrôlée in 1933 under the influence of Baron Le Roy. Lying in the heart of this illustrious appellation, the 14th-century Domaine des Sénéchaux is among the regions oldest wineries. It gets its name from one of the estates principal plots, located in the Bois Sénéchaux neighbourhood.
Tasting Notes
Intense and expressive, with fresh red and black fruit aromas of raspberry, cherry, and blackcurrant, lifted by spice and subtle oak. The palate is ample and fruity, with notes of jammy cherry, liquorice, and pepper, showing good balance, soft tannins, and a smooth, harmonious texture with a lightly oaky finish.
Serving Suggestions
Pairs well with Confit lamb with lemon and rosemary.
