Description
The name of Clos du Marquis, created in 1902, was inspired by the Petit Clos adjacent to the Chateau de Leoville, residence of the Marquis de Las Cases. The Clos du Marquis is produced from top terroirs of the Saint-Julien Appellation that were not part of the old Domaine de Leoville cadastre. These terroirs are located slightly to the west and are surrounded by prestigious Classified Growths, particularly Seconds Crus Class
Tasting Notes
Clos du Marquis is a stunning with a glossy, deep purple colour and an incredibly juicy nose which leaps out of the glass. On the palate the savoury, spicy, peppery notes almost take a front seat to the fruit but as the wine glides over the palate there are beautiful, compact, ripe fruit flavours. On the finish the wine is concentrated without losing the freshness.
