Old Monk Rum, isa well-known dark rum, known to have been brewed for centuries. Many believe that that Old Monk is one of the worl's oldest as well as the most widely sold rum around the world. Bthe story bgan with Mohan Meakin Ltd., that dated back to 1855. Till date, Mohan Meakin Ltd., commitment to keep the fundamental values and originality of the brand intact is truly remarkable. Legend has it that it was a kind-hearted British monk, who sneaked around the rum barrels tasting the rum during the ripening process, who indeed became a specialist in rum making. His advise and suggestions is what improved the flavour of the rum. Whne the rum was first launched, Mohan Meakin Ltd, decided to honour the monk by naming the rum- Old Monk Rum. Old Monk is known for its sweet aromas with noticeable notes of caramel, chocolate, ripe peach and vanilla. Bear in mind, though the ingredients might seem to be intensely sweet, the rum is not as sweet at you presume it to be. This is because of the dominant flavour of roasted coffee beans and spicy hints that has been incorporated because of the charred oak barrels in which the rum is stored.
