It comes from the area in which the tunnel where the whiskey is aged—yes, in a tunnel—in sherry and brandy casks. The geniuses behind Togouchi Blended Japanese Whisky realised the constant temperature of 14 degrees C and the 80% humidity were ideal for whiskey-ageing, and thus the tradition was born. Interesting facts aside, this is one fine Japanese whiskey. The nose is light, with a little vanilla and toasted nuts, while the palate offers a more surprising strength of dark, smoky tabacco and buttery caramel undercut with a candy sweetness that makes it truly unique.
