In a mason jar or any glass or even a cocktail shaker, muddle / crush the mint leaves, lemon and sugar together until the sugar has completely dissolved and most of juice is out of the lemon.
Add the required amount of whiskey into the shaker and give a good shake for at least half a minute.
This helps in opening up the flavour as well as thoroughly combining the flavours. Serve your drink in a whiskey glass topped with crushed ice and garnished with a mint leaf.
