Founded by two Dutch young friends in 1870, the Amstel brewery began brewing a unique and new Bavaria-style lager beer in Amsterdam. This beer instantly became a favourite amongst the people owing to the excellent quality of Amstel lager. It was the first Dutch brewery to have exported beer in cans. Heineken International bought Amstel in 1968. Today, Amstel beer remains famous all around the world for its distinctive golden colour, mildly bitter taste and excellent quality.
Amstel is our classic golden lager which takes longer to brew. It has a distinctive mildly bitter taste which is ideally balanced with refreshment.
