Murphy's began at a brewery called Our Lady's Well Brewery , Cork, that was started by James J. Murphy and his brothers in 1845. Calling it James J. Murphy & Co. they started their journey into brewing. They strived for perfection so much so that in 1861, the brewery produced 42,990 barrels, making them one of the major breweries in the country. Murphy's is now an internationally acclaimed Irish Stout. Experts classify it as a dry Irish Stout, dark in colour and with a medium body. It has become a favourite because of its toffee and coffee undertones, which surprisingly does not make it bitter, but produces an beautiful creamy finish. STYLE: Irish Stout, ALCOHOL BY VOLUME (ABV): 4.3%
