Created by a couple named Pedro Ferrer and Dolores Sala, the first bottle of Freixenet was launched in 1914. Pedro Ferrer was nicknamed, 'El Freixenet', after his family's ranch 'La Freixeneda', meaning ash tree grove in Catalan. It was Dolores' keen interest for winemaking that boosted Pedro's business in terms of bringing about savviness and a sense of community. Business flourished and in the 1930's, the couple intoduced their Freixenet to the world. Their son, Josep Ferrer took over the business 1957 and his passion of making breakthroughs with the brand, led to the launch of Cordon Negro in the 1970s. Freixenet Cordon Negro is a light modern Cava with bubbles that last. This refreshing style displays hints of citrus fruit and an aroma of apples, pears, peaches, melons and pineapple. The Brut is a crisp, clear, clean, very dry wine that contains almost no sugar. STYLE: Non-vintage Sparkling Wine, ALCOHOL BY VOLUME (ABV): 11.5%
